Besides damaging the lungs, smoking also affects women’s fertility. As women, our reproductive organs are exposed to everything we digest and inhale, and we can’t erase the consequences of consent tobacco and marijuana use.
Women who are current cigarette smokers take longer to get pregnant, have increased pregnancy complications, and have lower pregnancy rates after fertility treatment.
These findings are noted – but to a lesser degree – in past smokers.
”When I was younger, I smoked cigarettes and weed. I hadn’t touched either in the last five years and found out I did a lot of damage to my fertility,” says Felicia.
Smoking marijuana exposes you to some toxins found in tobacco. Besides lung cancer and infertility, smoking also affects major body systems like the brain and causes personality disorders, blood clots and memory loss.
Young women must educate themselves and each other about smoking and its dangers. If you are a young woman and a smoker, the best advice would be to stop. Say no like you mean it, and back up your NO with a positive response and statement.
